Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the points lead from Piastri by just one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he rotated at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before rotating through the gravel trap, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the high-speed corner before the last turn on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in P19, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
